Rock climbing in Austria

There are several climbing areas around Vienna, Austria for multi-pitch climbing. Whether it is the Hohe wand or the Höllental it is a beautiful sport climb in limestone of up to 16 rope pitches. Accommodation for multi-day climbing is also possible.

Description

Climb length:

  • all-day rock climbing of multi-pitch routes

Difficulty:

  • Climbing is not suitable for beginners
  • Very good fitness and climbing coordination required
  • Difficulty of ascent is up to VII UIAA
  • Technically demanding climbing terrain with very exposed places and climbing

Recommended preparatory hikes:

  • Sport rock climbing

Equipment needed:

  • climbing shoes
  • backpack
  • helmet
  • harness
  • belay device for double rope
  • personal anchor
  • climbing clothing
  • food and drink 1,5 l/person
  • spare sweatshirt (polartec or merino)

What’s included:

  • guiding with a UIAGM mountain guide (the mountain guide has third party insurance and a valid UIAGM membership)
  • photos from the exit (with mobile phone)
  • rental of climbing equipment (helmet, harness)
  • A smile on the guide’s face and a pleasant comfort during the ascent 🙂

What is not included:
