Kežmarský peak south wall

Kežmarský peak is located near Skalnaté pleso. Its compact southern wall is a great attraction for novice climbers and adventurers.

Description

The ascent to Kežmarský peak starts with the cable car from Tatranská Lomnica to Skalnaté Pleso from where we walk for about an hour. Climbing terrain begins in difficulty III-IV UIAA. In the lower part we climb the “Pravý Puškáš” route and roughly in the middle of the wall we continue with the “Birkenmajer” route. At the end of the route below the summit, only easy terrain awaits us and we climb it simultaneously to the summit. From the top of Kežmarský peak we descend by trail back to Skalnaté Pleso and by cable car to Tatranská Lomnica.

Difficulty of ascent to Kežmarský peak:

  • The climb is not suitable for beginners
  • Good fitness and climbing coordination required
  • Ascent difficulty is III-IV UIAA
  • The whole ascent is done with a rope
