The Eiger is a legendary peak with the highest north face in the entire Alps. It is located in the Bernese Alps and its north face rises straight above the village of Grindelwald. Many stories about its early conquerors are associated with it. The ascent follows its eastern ridge, the Mittellegi, and the descent follows the southwest ridge to the northern saddle of the Eigerjoch and then the ridge to the southern saddle of the Eigerjoch. The descent ends at the Jungfraujoch cog railway station.
